Okay!
I wanna bitch about what is now Ancient History: Dark Crisis getting banned!
It was a load of bullshit. A big steaming load and I have NO idea why the mods were pissed off at him enough to do it. Favoritism, or probablly, eneminity (SP?) was at play. Someone did NOT like the guy and decided to get rid of him once and for all.
When he first got to the boards, I thought he was a little obssesed with comic books, still think so. I think he was maybe a little too obsessed with comic book women and probablly posted a few too many pictures of them than anyone would like to stomach. Of course, seeing as how all of that stuff could be viewed in a book store, it's not like they were NSFW any more than any OTHER entertainment material is NSFW.
So his first ban was for posting pictures of comic book girls. I don't particualrly agree with it, but he's back eventually.
I think he may have been temp banned again, but I can't remember.
ANYHOW, fastforward to the final incident. That very same day, there was a thread with a Flash Test asking you o discern if a photo from the neck down belonged to that of a girl less than the age of 18 or older. Such comments as, "If there's grass on the field, it's fair play," and other raunchy jokes are made, big whoop. Our society has allowed for sexuality at younger ages to become somewhat acceptable. This isn't an earth shattering thing. Maybe, just maybe, it should be addressed in the public in a way that does not include instant condemnation. That's a whole 'nother bag of shit, I won't go into it. So, here comes this thread about Harry Potter and in it, a picture of Emma Wattson is there. She's attractive. She's the age of my sister and she's attractive. I'm not going to say I'm not attracted to Miss Wattson, I am. Dark Crisis makes a very, very raunchy joke about this in the spirit of the other thread ("If there's no grass on the field, go around back and play in the mud."), and in really bad taste, but it's clearly a joke.
I could see him getting warned for this, maybe even a temp ban since it could be considered thread "hitting" since the taste was so poor. However, he's perma banned! And the utter bullshit line that was used to justify this was that he was a legal threat and there were considerations of prior "behavior" etc.
What. The. Fuck?
Last I knew, to be a legal threat, you actually have to do something illegal! So, that would imply either child pornography or child molestation in this case OR, a bunch of bullshit used to get rid of someone that rubs another person the wrong way. HMMMMMMM.... smells like bullshit to me!
Furthermore, since his being banned, a number of people have been making snide comments as if to imply the guy was actually involved in something illegal. I KNOW I didn't miss the boat in this case and that THAT is a load of crap, so it really lends credence to the whole favoritism thing.
Frankly, I'm tired of people I think are pretty cool getting banned so here comes some more ancient history: Ken got banned for "victim pictures" of an embalmed severed foot (or something, never got to see it for myself) and I think THAT was bullshit personally, Ryan Lee got a perma ban for making up a big fish story (his original temp banning was fairly justified, but the amount of work that went into it was pathological), Kotobuki got perma banned recently for being his usual vitriolic self although we have a grand history of vitriolic people being tolerated, and now, most recently, though it is a temporary ban, Katara is gone for "supposedly" copying and pasting source material in one of his history posts.
Why is this happening? Is it because we don't have REAL trolls anymore? Doesn't anyone remember Azntony? The Shrink? That water what-his-face guy? People who'd spam goatse in every single thread they could get their hands on?
The only argument I can think of is that the forums are a bigger place than they used to be and that's lacking. Very lacking. If the community needs to be cajoled into acting a certain way it's going to fall apart later anyway.
Lastly, I don't think putting stuff in live journals or trying to settle things between members in PM's is helpful. As has been evidenced by a few threads not too long ago, keeping problems out of the forums where they will EVENTUALLY LEAK only leads to confusion, bitterness, and anger between people who would normally be friends.
And it's making me sad. I love the PvPForums. I don't understand why anyone gets angry over things that happen on them and I try and keep myself removed from the drama, but it hurts to see people that I like angry and snapping at each other. You know that comic where Skull is playing with the office supplies and pretends they're a family but they end up fighting, that's what it feels like.
So I should leave, right? That's what I'd get told if I put this in the forums. But I don't want to. I just want us to all be able to put anger when we have different opinions behind us and be friends despite that.
Well, I don't know if anyone's gonna read this since I haven't been very Live Journal active and I'd really rather put it in the forums, but I'd probablly be banned for that. I needed to get it off my chest all the same though.

Yes, well, I DO have a distinct lack of experience. Oh well.
Other stuff: Not much going on today. Headed down to the comic book shop. Hawai'ian Dick #3 was in. That's a kick ass book. The concept is great, the art is par excellance, seriously there probablly isn't a comic book artists out there, the dialogue and characters really haven't had a chance to establish themselves yet, but it's looking to be a real winner.
Wolverine X-Isle was kinda weird. I wasn't particularly satisfied with the ending. I don't mind the lack of explanation about why it was happening or just how, but as a look into Wolverine's mind and the issues he internalizes, it was weak. You can't wrap up five issues of psychology in 6 pages. The regular Wolverine was okay. This arc could have used more time to develop a deeper plot, but apparently they're going to be relaunching the title soon, so, whatever.
Grabbed the first four issues of the second League story. Pretty cool. Nemo's the best. Mina's got some issues.
Daredevil: Weeeeeird. That is all.

So I'm listening to that DJ Format track (ripped it out of the music video with Quicktime) and this stuff is REALLY good. Jurrasic 5 does the vocals on the track and those guys are like the best rap group today, you know, they bring back the kind of easy funk groove of older Rap groups but they don't sound old or anything. Gonna have to pick up the Format album when it comes out in the States.
Heh, DJ Format. That's almost nerdier than MC Frontalot.

Could someone clue me in on just what the hell is all this LJ drama?
I know about people ragging on DarkCrisis for his apparent addiction to comic books and fantazisation over the women in them (whatever floats your boat[such an innuendo filled expression]), but there's MORE?!
Hmm, okay, now for things that go in LJs:
I've been having a severe lack of motivation this semester in school. I dunno, just, BLAH. Browsing the forums to excess, just kinda hangin' in my room all day. I need to make some chiz-anges. I'm gonna try and loose some weight over the summer, maybe learn something new. That oughta be cool.
Oh, playing through Half-Life again, well, for the first time really. I never really even got close to finishing it the first time because I got too freaked out by the headcrabs and Multiplayer kicked SO much ass. And it is REALLY cool. Although MP5's only have 30 rounds, not 50. And the cone of fire is way to wide, but that aside it's great. The Marines use cover like NOTHING I've ever seen, not even in Halo except on legendary, and I'm playing in Easy so I can finish it more quickly!

Hee hee, hee hee, gonna get it tomorrow, maybe I should go to bed now so it comes quicker..
I plan on making one crazy assed module when I get it, a HUGE fricking city with hundreds of denizens who all talk to you and have something different to say, no combat, just lots and lots of people. Like, it'll be cool. I'm nutty like that. I wonder if anyone will actually want to play in my make believe town though.
I'm planning on having suburbs, zoning laws, farms, waste disposal areas, the whole shebang. I should aim for something like the size of New York City maybe. The module will clock in at like 1 gigabyte or something, yowza yowza yowza. Maybe I'll add chickens that attack you for the people who really want combat, maybe some homeless bums who get violent when trying to pan handle and then the cops come after you and then you have to jack a car and run everyone down and find a hooker, then kill her and take your money back! HAHAHAHAHAAAA!!

New Star Wars game coming out. I find it comforting that game developers are still committed to expanding the Star Wars universe and refining the combat aspects of it till the point where, hopefully, in the future we'll be able to relive experiences like in the movies.
Of course this applies for all movies, the recreation of fantastic scenarios that allow us to live out child hood fantasies.

It's kind of amazing the extent to just how out of the loop I am. For example, one of my good friends asked an acquaintance to the prom. Now, I interact with these people daily and talk to them fairly frequently about things in general. I had NO idea until I read Nariko's live journal that this had even happened! WTF?!
Am I some piece of garbage to be tread upon and only picked up when useful! GOD DAMN! That is IT, I'm not going to answer any more questions unless an equitable exchange of information is established.
